Plan Your Exterior Cleaning
5 Questions Every Homeowner Should Ask Before Booking a Pressure Washing Service
Before arranging exterior cleaning, ask how the proposed work fits your property. These five questions help clarify surfaces, methods, documentation, price and preparation.
1. What Experience Do You Have With My Type of Property?
Describe your siding, roof, driveway or other surfaces, including any existing damage or coatings. Ask for relevant examples and discuss what those examples can tell you about the work proposed for your property. A photo of another job does not establish the result your surface will achieve.
2. What Cleaning Methods Are You Proposing?
Ask which method is proposed for each material and condition, why it is appropriate, and what limitations apply. Share known manufacturer guidance, prior treatments, loose finishes and fragile areas. Do not assume one method suits every surface or that cleaning replaces repairs.
3. What Insurance or Site Documentation Can You Provide?
Ask the provider for the documentation you need before approving work, and review the details rather than relying on a badge or general statement. If a property manager or association is involved, identify their requirements and who can authorize the work.
4. What Is Included in the Written Quote?
List every area you want considered and check the written inclusions, exclusions and proposed price. Driveways, sidewalks, patios, screens, sealing and specialty stain treatment should not be assumed to be included with another task. Ask about any optional work and how a scope change would be agreed.

5. What Preparation and Property-Care Arrangements Are Needed?
Discuss nearby planting, outdoor furniture, fixtures, pets, access and drainage. Ask which preparation tasks belong to you and which are included in the proposal. Flag delicate items or areas of concern; do not assume furniture moving, plant coverings or a particular product is part of the work.
Keep the Agreed Scope Together
Keep the written proposal and any agreed changes together. Confirm the surfaces, price, exclusions, preparation and scheduling arrangements before work begins. If photos cannot explain the condition or access, ask what further assessment is needed.
