Plan Your Exterior Cleaning
Planning the Cleaning of Your Outdoor Living Areas
Patios, pool surrounds and covered outdoor areas can involve several materials and separate tasks. A useful cleaning plan starts with how you use the space, which surfaces need attention and what the estimate should include.
Identify the Space You Want to Use
Describe whether the request covers an open patio, a pool surround, a lanai or a screened area. Identify the floor material and any visible finish or coating. Include walls, steps, enclosure framing and screens only as separately named items; the phrase outdoor area is too broad to define the work by itself.
Show the Condition Without Guessing the Cause
Overview photos help show the layout. Closer views can show marks, worn finishes, loose joints or existing damage where you can photograph them safely. Explain known food or oil spills and prior treatments rather than assuming that every dark mark has the same cause or can be removed in the same way.
Describe any area you cannot safely access and ask how it should be assessed. Do not handle unknown waste or substances for an estimate photo. A general cleaning proposal should not be treated as a health assessment, sanitation certification or guarantee that a walking surface will be slip-free.
Plan Around Furnishings and Access
- Show furniture, grills, planters and fixed outdoor equipment.
- Flag delicate fixtures, planting, pets and nearby indoor thresholds.
- Identify gates, narrow access and areas with existing drainage concerns.
- Agree who prepares the area and whether moving furnishings is included.
Keep Cleaning, Repairs and Sealing Separate
Paver joint work, sealing, screen repair, coating repair and furniture cleaning should not be assumed to accompany a patio-cleaning request. Ask which surfaces and tasks are included, what limitations apply and how any additional work would be assessed and priced.
Share Event Timing Before Arranging Work
If the space is needed for a gathering, share that date when discussing the request. Confirm availability, preparation and any arrangements for using the area afterward with the team. An inquiry does not reserve a time or establish when every surface can be used again.
Review patio and pool-deck scope questions before sending your request.
